CIP Program Overview
GIMI’s innovation experts designed the Certified Innovation Professional program for individuals who are seeking up-to-date innovation knowledge and standards while mastering the tools and methodologies they’ll use in their organizations innovation initiatives.
The certification program has two levels:
Level 1 Associate: Learn the fundamentals of innovation, the tools you’ll need to successfully develop quality innovation ideas, and the skills you’ll need to achieve meaningful innovation results.
Level 2 Master: Master the skills and tools you learned in Level 1 by applying them to solve a real-world issue or challenge and generate new innovation opportunities for a partner organization.

CIP Program Structure
Level 1. Innovation Associate
During 8 weeks, you will go over six learning modules with specific learning outcomes, that will serve as base to present the certification exam for Level 1: Innovation Associate
Learn the fundamentals of innovation, the tools you’ll need to successfully develop quality innovation ideas, and the skills you’ll need to achieve meaningful innovation results.
Weeks 1 – 8 Modules
Learning outcomes:
- Learn what business innovation is
- Gain tools, techniques and the right mindset
Learning outcomes:
- Agree on where and where not to innovate
- Set growth targets
- Set investment profile
Learning outcomes:
- Look at future shaping trends
- Identify insights and new ideas
- Organize into an opportunity map
Learning outcomes:
- Define new areas for the company to play
- Prioritize and develop it into a compelling new opportunity
Learning outcomes:
- Generate new business concepts
- Conduct reverse engineer tactic to validate the concepts
Learning outcomes:
- Summarize the concept it in a compelling way
- Learn what’s required to sell a new idea
Learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the innovation knowledge, tools and methodologies covered.
Level 2. Innovation Master
During the Level 1 Certificate, candidates will work on a case study on a project where they apply the Innovation Process framework and obtain the Level 2: Innovation Master and the title CIP
You will be given a challenge to apply the innovation process and tools learned in the masterclasses of Level
Final Submission
Refine, submit and present documentation within 2 weeks of going through the process
Take your CIP experience to the next level with the International Association of Innovation Professionals
By taking CIP you can apply to CIP Advanced for a special package deal. CIP Advanced is a 6-week program designed to determine if you have the knowledge to understand the science of innovation, to function as a knowledgeable professional in the practice of innovation, and to support the innovation efforts of senior professionals by mentoring/consulting on how to take ideas to commercialization.
